Meet label boss, podcast host, vinyl collector, long-time DJ, and sound engineer Roy England. Roy is the first contributing artist to appear on PLR who is not currently located in the Bay Area; however, he did at one point reside in San Francisco's Bernal Heights neighborhood – and savored every moment of it. Roy's EP Solidarity is an uplifting, accessible, and flat-out housey turn for the roster, a turn that makes unbelievably good sense to the tuning of SF. Co-founder and manager of the Make Mistakes imprint, which has served as a major find for heads since 2013, England continues his multifaceted involvement with dance music and underground culture by releasing under alternative aliases like Uskmatu and Empathy Dub. You can find Roy's name full-name moniker on jacky-techno releases celebrated by DJ heroes like Shiva aka Noncompliant and Derek Plaslaiko, with remixes by Attentat, Jarvi, and Mick Finesse. For Solidarity, we get an immaculate reconstruction from Roche aka Ben Winans, PLR initial contributor and prolific producer of deep beats as seen on Mathematics and 100% SILK.
